Watching the Event? Here are Some Tips
In order to make an already awesome event even better, the Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic website lists some tips that will help you enjoy the event to the fullest, and provide the best, and safest, experience for everyone at the event.
· Dress for the cold. While the Idaho weather can get warmer as the day progresses, mornings can still be chilly. It’s better to dress in layers. Start out in warm clothes, and as the weather warms up, you can shed layers. It’s better to have more clothes than you need than to not be prepared. Wear good shoes as well. The grass can be wet with dew in the morning.
· The perfect picture. You’ll want to take pictures. The balloons are too cool to not want to have any pictures to remember the event. Just remember to be polite and considerate. If you want a picture with a hot air balloon or one the pilots, be sure to ask. They’ll love to take a picture with you, but be considerate. And never enter a balloon without the permission of the pilot.
· Think of your four-legged friend. While you are allowed to have dogs at Ann Morrison Park, it’s probably best to leave your four-legged friend at home. The Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic actually requests that you don’t bring any pets to the event. They aren’t doing this to be rude. While there’s the possibility your dog might mark a balloon, the biggest concern is actually for your pet’s safety. The burners create a sound that humans can’t hear, but dogs certainly can. And the sound can actually damage their hearing, and cause them pain.
· Seating. Whether you’ve brought blankets or chairs to sit on, be considerate of where you place them. When the balloons fill with air, they get much bigger. Don’t sit too close. If you are asked to move by the pilot or crew, be polite and honor their request. It’s for your safety, and the safety of the hot air balloon.
Have a Blast, Safely
