Boise, Idaho HomeYou’ve purchased your new home in Idaho, and you’ve moved in and are happily living in one of the most beautiful states in the US.  You may even have been through a winter in Idaho already and spent months cuddling inside while the snow falls.  But now, finally, the weather is warming, the sun is shining, and the flowers are coming out of the ground with the newness of life that spring always brings.

With spring, of course, comes spring cleaning.  The following are some spring cleaning tips for your new Idaho home.

Perhaps you have been thinking about going green, to help save the environment.  There are some great ways to get your spring cleaning done while going green.  Going green can be as simple as switching out your old light bulbs for new energy-efficient ones.  You can also add a skylight in your house for more natural lighting, or consider starting a vegetable garden in your backyard to grow your own vegetables.

It’s also important to keep in mind that with spring, comes allergy season.  If you suffer from allergies, you’ll want to be extra careful with cleaning your home for spring to reduce symptoms if you possibly can.  Instead of just moving dust around during your spring cleaning ritual, you want to make sure you eliminate the dust and other potential allergens in your home entirely.  Don’t just use a feather duster to dust, as they will simply spread the dust into the air and actually increase airborne dust particles.  Instead, you want to use moist cloths with allergen-reducing sprays, or special dry clothes that are designed to trap dust and allergens.

When you’re choosing products to use in your spring cleaning, be conscious of the ingredients in the products and read labels to make sure that they won’t contribute to the allergens in the air.  You may want to avoid products with harsh chemicals or strong odors.  Instead, consider purchasing organic products or products that are “going green,” which will be evident on the label.  You’ll be contributing to the cleaning company’s efforts to protect the environment as well as protecting your household and loved ones from compounded allergens coming into your new Idaho home.

Eagle, Idaho HomeLastly, be thorough in your cleaning efforts.  A surface spring cleaning will make everything look nice, but there could be dust mites, allergens, or other dirt lurking beneath the surface.  Be sure to clean and change your bed linens, other linens and towels, your pet beds, the upholstery on your furniture, as all of these can harbor dust mites and allergens.  Getting a jump on spring cleaning and performing it thoroughly is the best way to reduce allergens and keep the lovely spring season one you will enjoy, rather than suffering with allergies while the sun is shining so brightly.
