Shopping Local in Nampa
From the outside, Nampa looks like a bustling town with a population of 91,375 people (which it definitely is!). However, there are a few hidden treasures that you may not know about where you can shop to your heart’s content. Here are a few places that are must-sees when you visit Nampa, Idaho.
Rusty Retro Antiques and Oddities- This cute little shop is found on 604 Caldwell Boulevard and is filled with unique treasures. They specialize in everything from odd to unusual artifacts. The overall atmosphere has a fun, old-timey vibe with an ever-changing selection of vintage finds. On the outside, it may seem small, though on the inside are three rooms that are stuffed all the way to the rafters with all types of furniture, vintage and handmade jewelry, toys, Pyrex, local steampunk artwork, and other oddities that will fit anyone’s style. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the prices are decent. They also have an online shopping feature on their Facebook page if you’re wanting a wider range of selections. This store is truly one of the hidden gems in Nampa and every time you visit (they have new items every single day!). It is open all week except for Mondays.
Utter Clutter- Another antique shop on this list, this shop is definitely worth a visit. It is located at 1305 2nd St. S. 150 in downtown Nampa, however, it is only open Wednesdays through Saturdays from noon to 5 pm. The name of the store describes the atmosphere, but in reality, this is what makes the store so unique. If you like old stuff of all shapes and sizes, then this is the place for you! The prices are very decent and the shop owners are respectful and willing to help you find exactly what you’re looking for. Just like the previous store on this list, this shop has new items come into the store all the time, so you are sure to have a wonderful experience every time you walk through the door. You can also check out their Facebook and Instagram pages for new items on sale. Among their selections are holiday items, yard decor, suitcases, lamps, toys, and many unique items that you wouldn’t think you would need until you see it! Also, make sure to take a picture with the Indian and Ms. Cowgirl mannequins that are always in the store.
Village Antiques- Right next door to Utter Clutter at 1309 2nd St. S. is this huge antique shop. It is open from 10 am to 5:30 pm every day except for Sundays. Village Antiques is a locally owned antique mall that consists of over 20 different vendors. They display a wide range of collectibles and antiques in a room that is 10,000 square feet and spread out onto two different floors. The shopping experience overall is a unique and high quality experience that gives a number of items that you may need, from vintage to antique decorations. Since the store is a higher end antique store, it has a lot of furniture for both indoors and outdoors, and it is all well taken care of before and after it is put on display (if repairs are needed, they will fix it). The prices are slightly higher, but the staff is friendly and ready to help with finding anything you may need. You will most likely spend an hour or two in this store, but it is all worth it in the end.
Vintiques- A mashup of “vintage” and “antiques”, this shop truly delivers a grand mixture of both! Located at 223 13th Ave. S., this store, as well as another store called Mustard Seed, is a fun place to search for some old items for your home or office. It is owned by a husband-and-wife duo who are willing to help fix items that need it and give shoppers the items that they are looking for. Everything is reasonably priced and most of the items in the store are reused and repurposed items from the 20th century (an example of an item are potholders made from old denim jeans!). There are books, old pamphlets, and locally made items that are a great addition to your collection, whatever it may be! They are always open and have new items come into the store all the time, so be sure to stop by more than once.
Idaho Youth Ranch Thrift Store- This option always has affordable prices, helpful employees, regularly stocked shelves, and the store is always changing its items. The items range from used clothing, furniture, books, toys, and other secondhand items. The store is very spacious, so there is plenty of room to meander through each of the aisles. The store located at 1031 Caldwell Boulevard is open every day from 9 am to 9 pm except Sundays (which are open from 11 am to 7 pm). The store on 5520 E. Franklin Road is open from 9 am to 7 pm (on Sundays noon to 5 pm). All money made goes to the non-profit organization of the same name, which helps to provide better futures for Idaho’s youth.
The Treasure Valley Marketplace- This last addition to the list has a wide range of shops in the area, though it is worth strolling around for a while. Found on 16365 N. Marketplace Boulevard, this 700,000 square foot power center is like an outlet mall, with tons of options to choose from, such as Cost Plus World Market, Michaels, Target, Gordmans, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Dickey’s Barbeque Pit, Olive Garden, and more! There is also a beauty spa and health and fitness options to relax or get in a workout. Most of the stores are open from 8 am to 9 pm, however, since they are all separate stores (rather than being in a huge mall), some of the stores and restaurants may have varying hours, so please check times beforehand! Also, look online for deals and other promotions to get the best savings.
Now, have fun and get shopping!
