Deep Blue WaterIts no secret that when Friday night rolls around in Boise many have their boats gassed up and ready to roll the minute work lets out. There is nothing like cooling down at the lake in the hot days of Summer. Even more than just cooling down though is the thrill of water sports...a huge spray from a slalom skier or flips on a wake board.

Lucky Peak is located about 15 minutes from Boise. This enormous reservoir provides visitors with opportunities to water ski, wakeboard, tube, camp, fish, boat, hike and picnic; there is truly something for everyone, regardless of interest or mobility. This is great spot for a summer trip. As a reservoir, the water levels vary which can affect access to the boat ramp. Be sure to check the levels before you visit for a boating trip.

This recreation area is divided into three separate sections that include: Spring Shores, Discovery Park and Sandy Point. Spring Shores provides 2 boat ramps, a full service marina, watercraft rentals, a convenience store and parking facilities. The marina provides long term slips and fuel. There are over 298 slips for rent from May to August that can be renewed annually. The parking lot offers access to the boat ramps and parking spaces for trailers. Lucky Peak also has over 50 miles of trails for hiking and enjoying the outdoors. There are a variety of places to stay and spend time in this beautiful area.

Actions Sports with the Holland Brothers is minutes away from Idaho homes in Sandpoint. It is open 7 days a week on the shores of Lake Pend Oreille. They offer various water sport activities such as wakeboarding, water skiing and wake surfing. The Holland brothers grew up in Sandpoint. They are members of the United States Snowboarding Team and have competed at the World Cup Tour. Nate has won 6 gold medals at the X games and 2 gold medals at the Olympics. Pat has placed at the World Cup. Together these brothers have 10 years of experience in watersport teaching as certified captains of the Coast Guard. They offer lessons in water skiing, wakeboarding and watersurfing. They specialize in beginner and advanced classes. Their rates range from $120 for a half hour to $850 for a full 8 hour day.

The Bear Lake State Park has more than 305 slips for docking boats as well as a 5 lane boat ramp. North Beach has 2 unloading boat ramps and lots of sandy beach. Jet skis and wave runners can be rented in Paris, Idaho and at the beach on Bear Lake. Boating is also popular. The lake is 8 miles wide and 20 miles long. It provides lots of room for all sorts of watercraft. Pontoon tours are also available from the Eco Bear Lake Tours. Another favorite activity is water skiing. There are no worries about crossing a wake.
