Above the Ground and On It: Out of the Water at Heise Hot Springs

Just outside of Idaho Falls, Idaho, in the small town of Ririe, a big adventure is waiting for you. While all of Idaho is full of adventure, excitement, and the incredible beauty of the wilderness and rivers, Southeast Idaho offers some truly incredible experiences. Home to some of the best fishing, and the world famous Henry’s Fork of the Snake River, Southeast Idaho is a great place to experience some of the best that Idaho has to offer.

The Heise Hot Springs are well known for the natural mineral hot springs, and a fantastic summer pool with a massive 350-foot waterslide. It’s also home to Heise Expeditions which offers incredible fly fishing with experienced guides that know the South Fork of the Snake River like the back of their hand. But the Heise Hot Springs has a lot more to offer than water sports and activities.

Whether you’re craving a day filled with adrenaline pumping adventure or a nice relaxing day on the greens of a golf course, Heise Hot Springs is the place to be. Play a great game of golf along the nine hole golf course, or go flying down the mountain (almost literally) on the ten incredible zip lines at Heise Zip.

A Tour of Excitement

When a ride is presented to you as the Tower of Terror, you can bet it’s going to be good. Heise Zip is an incredible zip line tour that has you tearing down the mountain on close to a mile and a half of zip lines. The zip lines range from the easing you in of 300 feet to the ride of a lifetime of 1,400 feet. With ten different zip lines, your adrenaline will stay pumping. And there’s still the Tower of Terror. This is a dual zip line that spans over 1,400 feet long. It’s a wild ride that has you zooming down the mountain and racing one of your friends.

You don’t need to worry if you’ve never gone on a zip line before. The experienced guides do all of the work for you. You just get to enjoy the ride of your life. You’ll go through a brief orientation, get geared up, and take a ride on an ATV to the first zip line. From there, just let your adrenaline do the work as the guides zip you down the mountain. You’ll even learn about the history of Heise, and the scenery is breathtaking, if the excitement of the zip line doesn’t already take your breath away.

Throughout the year, you’ll have special opportunities at Heise Zip. They offer special night rides called the Full Moon Tour. There are only four of these events during the season. Each one is on a Friday, starting in June and ending in September. During each Friday and Saturday night in October, you can go to the Heise Zip Halloween Spooktacular. It’s a thrilling Halloween zip line experience like you’ve never had before.

Enjoying the Green

End your zip line adventure with a relaxing game of golf at the Heise Hot Springs nine hole golf course. It’s a beautiful course, and the mountains make the perfect backdrop to your game. They might be too perfect, though. You might find yourself enjoying the surrounding beauty instead of paying attention to the golf round.

At the course, you’ll find a full service clubhouse. Equipment is available to rent if you don’t have your own, or if you didn’t bring your clubs. You’ll be able to play a single round of nine holes, or double up and play eighteen holes. After your game, enjoy a slice of pizza and a cold drink. Or take advantage of the main feature of the Heise Hot Springs, and enjoy a nice soak in the natural hot spring.
