If there is one thing that can get my attention and then hold on to it for a disproportionate amount of time, it is the stars above my head. I am absolutely enthralled by the twinkling lights that sweep and dive and ponderously march through our night sky, and I am sure that there are many like me. Long has the human race been drawn to look at the heavens and seek a deeper understanding of the universe. There is something about the stars that sucks the mind in and is unwilling to give it away and Idaho, in particular, has a field of stars that does this better than any other on the planet. Naturally, the people in Idaho may look at the same stars as everyone else, but they are in a position to get a better view. If you are soon to be a resident of…

Everyone loves to learn about the chaos and craziness that was the Wild West of the United States. Okay, maybe not everyone is eager to learn about all the facts, but there are also quite a few fascinating and exciting stories from the time. Idaho is one of the places at the center of all of this excitement. Few other states can say they had the same hand as Idaho in creating the western half of the United States and bringing it up to what it is today. Idaho has a rich and interesting history when it comes to the old days that were full of outlaws and bank robberies. There are all kinds of exciting stories to be told about the forming of Idaho and all of the things that happened within the state’s borders before they were the borders of a state. Local…

Idaho is a pretty place and a lot of people do not know that. They go through their lives thinking all about Idaho and potatoes and how there are more cows than people in the state (True, but not by all that much. There are two million cows and 1.7 million people) and just ignore all of the cool things that Idaho has going on. I desperately want to rectify this situation so that people can realize just how amazing Idaho is and why they should put it in their plans to give the state a visit in the near future. If you are an Idaho resident, sit back and enjoy hearing about how awesome your home is. If you are new to the world of Idaho, buckle up and get ready for a sudden urge to move to the Gem State yourself. Okay, it probably will not be that strong…

There are a lot of fun things you may be interested in trying out within Idaho's vast terrain. Tons of people come to the state every year just because they want to ski down the mountains of Idaho or across its snowy plains. Some Idahoans just go absolutely nuts for white water rafting and it would not surprise me if quite a majority of the population of the state-owned a dirt bike they frequently take out into the Idaho country. But while these activities and the other extreme activities that are like them are a lot of fun, they are not exactly what everyone is doing and sometimes they are too much. More often, a good hike or trek is the best answer to the question of “what should I do today?” Hiking or trekking, is an age-old activity that has only…

A lot of people come to Idaho with grand plans for hunting because there is a lot of open space with a wide variety of different animals that are ideal for hunting. In some areas of Idaho, you can go for miles without coming across another living soul and while encountering a hundred different kinds of animal that are either going to run away or fight you for survival (Though the latter is a little more unlikely). One of the really interesting things about hunting is that there are a lot of ways to go about doing it. There are various different weapons to use and they all come with vastly different styles needed to adopt, in order to get into the environment of the animal desired to hunt effectively. I want to get into some of these different methods…

The feeling of being suspended in water, the cool liquid completely surrounding you and keeping your entire body chilled while the sun beats down upon your from above, is a feeling that is unparalleled when compared to most other feelings. To just dip into water feels so nice, even on a day that is not so hot. Swimming is one of the best ways on the planet to relax and have some fun. Coincidentally, Idaho is one of the best places on the planet for swimming or wading in the refreshing water. It is a state that does not have the same oceans and lakes as other parts of the country and other parts of the world, but it certainly has rivers to spare and rivers can make for some excellent wading and swimming. Most of the water in Idaho is untouched by human…
