Boise is a city that is both old and new. Founded in 1864, Boise is the capital city of Idaho. The tree lined greenbelt that follows the Boise River, is 25 mile long park, a pathway enjoyed by walkers, bikers, fishermen and those just taking a moment to enjoy nature in the middle of the city. The greenbelt got its humble beginnings from an effort to clean up the Boise Riverbanks which were being used as a dumping ground for trash, raw sewage and industrial waste. Acquired by the city of Boise small sections at a time, the greenbelt is now paved the full length with the exception of 1 ½ miles. The greenbelt travels east thru Boise all the way to the Lucky Peak Recreational Area.

MLS Area 200- NE Boise Idaho Homes and Lifestyle
NE Boise is centered around the historic Warms Springs Avenue. East Boise’s homes are among the most expensive in the city, with many of the homes being built at the turn of the century. One can see many stately Victorian homes while driving down Warm Springs Ave. The natural hot springs that flow from Boise’s fault line warm many of the homes along Warm Springs Ave., and are what gives the area its name.
North of Warm Springs Avenue you will find well established neighborhoods lined with old growth trees which help one realize where Boise gets its nickname “The City of Trees”. Actually, the city was named by early nineteenth century trappers for a French word meaning wooded river. Huge cottonwood trees lined this beautiful river, making it a welcome respite from the desert valley for trappers and travelers alike.
