MLS Area 1000- SE Meridian Idaho Homes and Lifestyle
With few shopping centers, this area is mostly residential. Some of the newer developments have standard neighborhood sized lots, although their small acreages throughout the area, usually in the older, more established sections. This area is very desirable because of its proximity to Meridian and Boise’s downtown areas with all the amenities that they have to offer without the traffic and congestion that city centers bring. It allows residents to have their home life be away from the hustle and bustle of city living while still enjoying its benefits. Most people work away from this area, commuting the short distance to business, retail and industrial sections of the county.
The real estate opportunities in Southeast Meridian are quite diverse and versatile. There are many different kinds of homes that come in all shapes and sizes in this part of town so it is hard to not find a place that fits one’s needs.
The homes in this MLS area are varied in style, price, and lot size. From beginner homes to million dollar homes, this area has something for everyone. The land is, for the most part flat, and except for a few rises and hills, gives most homeowners a relatively easy lot for mowing. As the geography of the land slowly makes its way south, it comes to one of the county’s southernmost “benches” of land, where the land makes a sudden rise forming a small, soft cliff of sorts which gives the lucky residents of this area a breathtaking view of the whole valley all the way north to the foothills of Boise.
Living in SE Meridian gives its residents access to many attractions within just a few miles. Roaring Springs Water Park lies at the Meridian Road exit of I-84. With its exciting water slides and its wave pool, there is water excitement to be found in this friendly spot. If excitement is not your thing, you can enjoy floating in the meandering “lazy river”. Bring your family and friends and cool off on Monday nights for a sweet $10 discount.
Right next door to Roaring Springs is Wahooz Family Fun Zone. This amusement park has activities for all ages. The mini golf is fun for beginners and challenging enough for seasoned golfers to provide a good time for young and old alike. Wahooz has two go-cart tracks and bumper boats for the competitive types. They also have a great laser tag area and bowling for those who would rather not get lasered! Wahooz has plenty of arcade games and a Kiddie Cove area for the little ones.
A great new entertainment area in Meridian is the Village at Meridian. There are plenty of national retail stores as well as many great restaurants. Most of the restaurants have happy hour from 3 or 4 o’clock to 6 o’clock pm. Even if you don’t drink, appetizers are half price and are delicious and filling. Big Al’s offers projected sports as you sit at the bar or enjoy their full restaurant. Big Al’s also has a bowling alley, billiards and an arcade for your entertainment pleasure. Sit by the beautiful water fountain in the center of the Village and enjoy the colors and music used with the fountain for a chance to relax and visit with friends. During the winter, come to the village and try ice skating on their seasonal frozen “pond’. If your idea of a great date is dinner and a movie, why not try both. The theaters at the Village, you can have your dinner delivered right to your seat.
Just a couple of miles north of the freeway on Meridian road lies the Meridian Speedway. A favorite with fans. A must do for many, on the fourth of July especially, fans can expect the excitement of the roar of the cars, the cheering of the fans and the vibration of the air around as the cars race past you in their loop around the track.
Downtown Meridian itself is only a couple of miles long and most of the businesses are located on Main St. with a few spreading a half a block east or west of Main. But in that 2 mile stretch, you will find restaurants, hair salons, antique stores, the post office, a large bicycle shop and a funeral home to name a few. Many of the businesses are located in renovated older homes which bring the charm of yesteryear to this delightful downtown area.
