Chances to build custom homes are still readily available.
Most households state their daily commute to work is about 25-29 minutes long, and most individuals (62%) drive alone to work. About 33% carpool, 3% walk, 2% work at home, and the other 1% use some other means of transport (e.g., bus, trolley, etc.). Of all residents surveyed, the majority live about 25-29 minutes away from their places of employment.
The cost of living index is less than the national average of 100, hanging around at 90.4 as of January 2011.

A small, livable community, residents and visitors enjoy the many big campgrounds and parks for outdoor adventures. The Cascade Reservoir is quite popular for fishing and boating, and a short trip over to McCall will bring golf enthusiasts pleasure at the Cascade Golf Course.
Other parks and campgrounds to enjoy include Poison Creek Campground, Rainbow Point Campground, and Sloans Point Lookout. Those who enjoy fishing can partake in angling near the Koskella Reservoir. White water rafting at the nearby Cascade Adventures is fun for those who love the water—with four and six day trips, and all levels of rafters and kayakers welcome.

With golfing, zip lining, and mountain biking in the summer, and of course snow skiing, cross country skiing, and back country adventures during the winter. With its beautiful panoramic view of the valley atop the mountain, Tamarack is the escape to heaven on earth. If you like to take a week in the summer to go up to Donnelly, spend a week in a cabin relaxing and getting out on the lake every day.

Dining can be enjoyed at places such as Vigilante's Restaurant & Lounge, the Donnelly Club, Moxie Java, and the Buffalo Gal Restaurant.
McCall, just a few minutes away, also has shopping and dining opportunities for locals and non-locals—such as the Razzle Dazzle store, offering gift items, food, dinnerware, and more. They also feature works from local artists. After feasting the eyes and wallet on the shopping side, many people enjoy dining at Steamer's Steak & Seafood, Mill Steaks & Spirits, or the McCall Pancake & Christmas house.
