Unwinding and Retiring In Idaho

Posted by Kevin Hughes on Tuesday, October 11th, 2011 at 11:38am.

Historic BoiseWhat a blessing to be among those who can sit back and no longer have to worry about going to work. Many of these well established couples relocate to certain communities for the vast number of activities and social interactions available. Boise, Idaho just happens to be one such place that has a lot to offer to retirees.

Following are several examples of great communities near Boise:

Valley View

Located on 1130 North Allumbaugh, this retirement community first opened in 1986. It provides retirement living, independent living and assisted living facilities. Its only payment option is private pay.

The Valley View Idaho properties are based around a dedication to an active lifestyle. It is pet friendly and has an on-site fitness center and wellness program to help residents maintain or improve their level of health. Meal plans are provided and Valley View employs a culinary chef as well as a 24 hour staff. An on-site general store makes shopping easily available to all residents.

It has planned leisure and social activities as well as a dining room activities program.

Overland Court
This community is located on 10172 West Smoke Ranch Road. It specializes in assisted living and Autumn Alzheimer's living. The minimum monthly budget for living in this community is $2,890 and is funded through private payments. However, Overland Court has several programs to help raise money and cut expenses.

These Boise homes not only allow but encourage residents to bring their own furniture and room decorations. Activities provided include exercise classes, gardening, planned social events and planned outings.

Overland Court provides 24 hour staff and private party dining as well as restaurant style dining.

Meadow Lake Village
This Meridian area community covers 100 private acres. It is open to people 55+ and is designed for active seniors. The styles of homes range from cottages to lodge style apartments.

Meadow Lake Village offers a Life Enrichment/Wellness program with individualized goals to help residents maintain and even improve their health. It is a pet friendly atmosphere and offers a private nine-hole golf course, fine dining, fitness center and spa center.

The Terraces Of Boise
This new retirement community is based on Mill Station Drive. It offers maintenance-free cottages and apartment homes. This community is set on 12 acres in southeastern Boise, ID near the Boise River Greenbelt. This provides mountain views for the residents.

The Terraces provide an on-site fitness center, bistro, library, salon and other amenities. BSU classes are, also, available. Its nearness to the One of Many Retirement Communities Boise River makes it easy for the residents to maintain an active lifestyle that includes hiking and biking.

Underground parking protects residents from any inclement weather.

There are, of course, many other retirement communities around Boise and throughout Idaho. With sites such as Table Rock in the area, retiring in Boise means getting out, staying active, and having fun!

Never thought Boise Idaho as the ideal retirement spot, but it really looks amazingly peaceful there.
