Skiing and Boarding in Idaho

The Cottonwood Butte Ski Area is located in the heart of the Camas Prairie near the town of Cottonwood, Idaho where the pleasurable atmosphere on the slopes, courteous management and friendly hospitality will welcome you with open arms.  The Ski Area offers four major, groomed runs and several powder filled trails among the trees that are served by a 3,000 foot long ski lift. The 845 foot vertical drop challenges the intermediate, advanced, and expert skiers and snowboarders. The bunny slope offers a gentle 30 foot vertical drop served by a rope tow for the beginner or less confident skiers.

Silver Mountain Resort in Kellogg, Idaho receives over 300 inches of famously light snow and offers a big-mountain experience on 2,200 vertical feet of exciting terrain. The ski area spans two mountains, Kellogg Peak and Wardner Peak, three bowls, 73 named runs plus extensive off-piste, terrain park, and is home to some of the best tree skiing in the country. Bogus Basin is a skiier's retreat just 45 minutes from the west part of Boise. Growing up, my family could always throw the skis in the car after school and head up the mountain for some night skiing, or go and spend the day. The proximity to home was always a benefit, plus Bogus has a ton of great skiing hills. Some of my favorite memories are of racing across slopes like the Bowl, Showcase, Alpine, and heading down cat tracks to find even more on the backside. It didn't take long before we were cruising down black diamond runs every Saturday. And at the end of the day there was never anything more beautiful than driving down the mountain with an incredible view of the entire Boise valley right in front of us.
