Scholarships for Idaho's Excelling Students

If you are considering a move to the State of Idaho, you probably already know it is a great place to live and work. But did you know it also is a great place to go to school?
There are many outstanding colleges and universities in Idaho, offering a variety of degrees and study areas. A variety of scholarships are also available.
• The Idaho Opportunity Scholarship is available to provide Idahoans with post-secondary education. It was created by Governor C.L. Otter and designed as a “last dollars” scholarship. Students need to have previously applied for federal financial assistance and also have a family- or self-contribution toward tuition.
o Applicants must be an Idaho resident and have graduated from an Idaho high school. Also accepted is a GED issued by Idaho.
o A completed FAFSA form is required, along with an online application.
• The Robert R. Lee Promise, Category A Scholarship offers 25 scholarships each year. These are presented to professional-technical students and academic scholars.
o Applicants must be an Idaho resident and have graduated from an Idaho high school. Also accepted is a GED issued by Idaho.
o Students must be enrolled full-time in either a professional-technical or an academic program. A list of eligible programs can be found in Higher Education in Idaho.
• The Idaho Governor’s Cup Scholarship annually provides scholarships to graduating seniors from Idaho high schools who will attend a university or college within Idaho.
o Applicants must be an Idaho resident and have graduated from an Idaho high school. Also accepted is a GED issued by Idaho.
o Consideration is given to students demonstrating public service, volunteer work and proven leadership skills.
o Additional information and guidelines are available.
• The Tschudy Family Scholarship awards scholarships to outstanding students who graduate from Emmett High School in Emmett, Idaho. The scholarship recipient is selected based on both financial need and academic merit.
o Applicants must be a current Idaho resident and enrolled for a minimum of 14 credit hours at either Idaho State College, Lewis-Clark State College, Idaho State University or Boise State University.
o Scholarship applicant guidelines are available.
• The Public Safety Officer Dependent Scholarship is available for dependents of Idaho public safety officers who were either disabled or killed in the line of duty. This scholarship provides a full waiver of fees and the cost of books and supplies up to $500 per semester.
o Please review the statute to determine eligibility.
• The Freedom Scholarship is made available to help with books and on-campus housing for children of Idaho residents who were killed in action, died of injuries sustained in action, declared missing in action or who were prisoners of war.
