kayakers-5_400You’re moving to a home in Boise, and you can’t wait to settle into the picturesque city and start enjoying the view from your balcony, the gorgeous weather, the lush greenery, and begin your new life.  It’s an exciting time and you’re investigating everything that will be a part of this new adventure and chapter in your family’s lives.  You’ve explored the city and know the many and various attractions offered there and you couldn’t be more pleased.

So what about outside the city?  If you and your family are the outdoorsy type, excited to get out and explore the gorgeous sights of Boise and Idaho, you won’t be disappointed.

Here are some outdoor activities right around Boise you won’t want to miss:

Boating/Water Skiing/Sailing/Windsurfing:When it comes to water sports Boise has it all. Just 5 miles from Boise is Lucky Peak Dam with miles of waterways for your boating, sailing and swimming fun. Power boating and sailing is also popular in the Cascade Reservoir, Payette Lake, Warm Lake, Black Canyon, Arrow Rock, Anderson Ranch and Owyhee Reservoir.

Lucky Peak Lake
Hiking/Climbing/Biking: Biking and mountain biking
are great adventures from the foothills of the Boise mountain front. The Boise Greenbelt, with over 27 miles of Boise River bike and pedestrian paved paths, is a great place to spend the day biking or hiking. Tablerock and the cliffs below Lucky Peak Dam are two wonderful rock climbing areas within 10 minutes of downtown Boise. The Sawtooths and other mountain ranges to the north are fantastic backpacking areas.

mount-heinen-4_400Skiing: Idaho has some of the best snow skiing in the nation. Alpine and Nordic skiing are both very popular. Just 16 miles out of Boise you can enjoy both types of skiing at Bogus Basin Ski Resort. Bogus has several lighted ski runs for night skiing. Bogus has a few condos to rent, but most folks come back to Boise to party. The state’s best kept secret is Brundage Mountain which is approximately 120 miles to the north of Boise - if you're into powder skiing you’ll want to check it out.

Boise is also a great place for outdoor activities such as camping, horseback riding, fishing and hunting, motorcycle riding, snowmobiling, and white water rafting.

Now that you have had just a hint of all that Idaho has to offer within minutes of our major metropolitan area which includes Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Nampa, Kuna & Caldwell- If you would like to see all area mls listings with large & vibrant photos... see: Idaho real estate.

The first time I visited Boise and drove ten miles out of town, I thought it was the surface of the Moon. Then I realized that the flat surface was not where the beauty was - it was down in one of the many canyons BELOW the line of sight!

Twin Falls, Ketcham, and the foothills are lovely places once you discover them. Your article makes me want to come back and take advantage of the great outdoor amenities and the fine dining I found there.

Thanks!
