Nampa School District #131

Posted by Kevin Hughes on Friday, September 23rd, 2011 at 11:21am.

Idaho EducationThe Nampa School District #131 is well-known for its diversity, highly qualified teachers, and special programs to bring its children from school into the working world. This district includes 26 schools for preschoolers through grade 12. Here is a brief overview of what children and parents can expect in Nampa schools.

Highly Qualified Teachers
All teachers, in all 26 schools in the Nampa, meet the requirements for Highly Qualified Teachers (HQT) as outlined by Idaho state and Federal standards. In fact, 50% of all teachers at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Elementary School hold a Masters degree. Over all 26 schools, 38% of teachers have a masters degree, with an average of 10 years teaching experience. Idaho regularly recognizes teachers from this district as “Teacher of the Year.”

Comprehensive Curriculum
Focusing on the needs of a diverse population, Nampa schools offer a diverse curriculum for each stage of development, whether it's grades K-5, 6-8, or 9-12. The elementary schools not only focus on the basics of reading and math, they expand the child's world by offering a large program of science, art, music, health, social studies, and physical education. They actively prepare children for the next stage of development.

At middle school age, children are grouped into advisory classes with no more than 25 students to a class. They go beyond the basics again with this curriculum, helping children learn life skills such as time and stress management. As the final step approaches, and adolescents begin to enter high school, the Nampa schools provide even more support. The first two years of high school focus on the core competencies of math, science, social studies, and English.

Nampa Real Estate
In grades 11 and 12, students are prepared and encouraged to pursue their dreams while they finish their required credits in order to graduate. Once again, Nampa goes above and beyond the standard curriculum by offering “Grade 13.” Grade 13 offers a step up into career training, such as in the Automotive industry, Engineering and Info Tech (such as CompTIA A+ and Network Certifications), and Health Professions (such as EMT Basic and Nursing Assistant Certifications).

There are also ample opportunities to prepare for college with Advanced Placement coursework, and college credit courses. Nampa School District has partnered with several local campuses in order to provide these young adults with the college credits they need and save money and time once they get to their college of choice.

When choosing a community in Idaho, parents need to know more about where they are sending their children, no matter what age—elementary, middle, or high school. Nampa School District 131 offers children a diverse and enriched learning experience that will follow them into successful adulthood.
