Joint School District No.2, more commonly known as the Meridian School District, is located in Ada County, Idaho. It serves Meridian, Eagle, the western portion of Ada County, and western portions of Boise. It is the largest school district in the state with 35,000 K-12 students in 49 schools. The schools span an area of 382 square miles with student populations of 300-2,000 per school.

The Meridian School district has a strong relationship with its surrounding community. Their community partners and partnerships have played a large role in helping this rapidly growing district meet their demands. For example, the Meridian District has a partnership with Idaho State University. The schools share a building where they hold a handful of educational programs. In addition, students at Renaissance High School can earn college credits through the university.
Meridian School District has a tradition of excellence across their athletics and school activities. In the past 30 years, the district has won over 150 state titles. At the high school level, they offer 11 sports and 7 activities.
The District's Schools
The district has a variety of magnet programs. They offer three different types of magnet programs: focus, configuration, and schedule/calendar. You can enter or exit a magnet program at any time during grade school. The district offers large and small scale academic settings to suit the learning needs of their different types of students. Professional-technical classes are offered at the high school level, including construction, agriculture, culinary arts, and health sciences.
The district also offers night school, summer school, driver's education, free and reduced lunch, English Language Learner services, and Title 1 reading.Faculty and Staff
The Meridian District has 1,900 certified teachers as well as over 2,000 non-certified staff members including teacher aides, bus drivers, and custodians. All staff members are trained in crisis management, strategies for addressing harassment, child abuse reporting, and suicide prevention. Certified teachers participate in professional development workshops throughout each school year, which address a wide variety of academic areas and student learning styles.
The Students
Approximately 94% percent of the high school students in the school district complete high school, which is just over the state average of 89%. Across the district, students speak more than 70 languages.
