The NASA Idaho Space Grant Consortium
Prospective buyers seeking to invest in Idaho real estate may be interested to know of NASA’s committed partnership with the University of Idaho in Moscow, ID.
The NASA Idaho Space Grant Consortium (ISGC) was selected last year to conduct NASA’s Summer of Innovation (SOI) program and received a $868,284 grant for three years. Beginning in June 2010, the program has brought NASA-oriented science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education to middle schools with a high ethnic diversity. Six ISGC teams travel to tribal reservations and schools with large Latino populations in Idaho, Montana and Utah, where programs are conducted and organized around the themes of space exploration, astro/aeronautics and earth sciences.
About the NASA Idaho Space Grant Consortium
Established in 1991 as one of NASA’s fifty-two Space Grant Consortia under the National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program, the ISGC promotes NASA’s space exploration initiatives among the general public, K-12 students, educators, undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and members of industry. It’s vision: “To be the voice of NASA in the state of Idaho…,” and to “...inspire the next generation of explorers as only NASA can." The NASA Idaho Space Grant Consortium is located in Moscow, ID as a part of the University of Idaho.
Major goals of the ISGC include:
- Maintain a state-wide network of institutions and agencies to promote interests and capabilities in science, technology, engineering and math related fields
- Strengthen partnerships with NASA field centers
- Encourage cooperation among educational institutions, industry, government and other space grant consortia
- Encourage training, research, and public service programs for the NASA Mission Directorates
- Develop strong science, technology, engineering, and mathematics skills through all educational levels, from kindergarten through graduate study

Annual average precipitation is about 27 inches, the wettest month being November with 3.54 Inches.
