Idaho and P.A.L. Teaming Up to Help Your Children

Posted by Kevin Hughes on Saturday, July 9th, 2011 at 3:13pm.

Kids are of paramount importance and the future of our world. Idaho families recognize the importance of showing the youth of today examples and benefits of good character and morals... to point them in the right direction. Through the PAL program kids have the opportunity to have some fun while learning those important life skills.

What is PAL?

Having Fun Together
PAL, or the Police Activities League, is an initiative to bring law enforcement personnel together with youth to foster a better respect and understanding between the two, initially creating a better community environment through affective crime prevention by allowing kids to have fun, make friends, and get involved in community sporting events.  It strives to instill the values of respect for oneself and others through sportsmanship and physical fitness.  In the process it creates a healthy relationship between youth and law enforcement.

What is PAL doing in the community?
PAL is strong in the city of Boise, conducting several programs for the kids of Idaho Real Estate investors.
·     the PAL Golf Program
·     the PAL Racing Program
·     the PAL Rafting Trip
·     the PAL Youth Hunting Program
·     the PAL Judo Club
The PAL Golf clinic is a week long event that teaches kids the etiquette and fundamentals of the game in a fun environment.

The PAL Racing Program is at the Firebird Raceway where law enforcement participates in the high-school drags in a nationwide program called “Beat the Heat” where teenagers race against the police for prizes.  PAL also promotes the “Click It or Ticket” and the “Don’t Drink and Drive” campaigns while creating a positive influence for children in need.

The PAL Raft Along Tribreaks down barriers by motivating kids to work with officers in a rafting trip down the Main Payette.  The trip encourages kids to cooperate with each other for a thrilling experience.

Rafting the PayetteIn the PAL Youth Hunting Program officers mentor kids from twelve to seventeen years of age, teaching them to hunt while instilling lessons of conservation and habitat restoration.  Instructors stress ethics, respect for others and conservation of natural resources.

The PAL Judo Club encourages kids by stressing respect for each other and motivates them through physical activity by teaching them the Olympic Sport and art of self defense called Kodokan Judo.

Nampa PAL offers similar motivational activities, and include:
·     Nampa PAL Football
·     Nampa PAL Cheer
·     Girls Running Club
·     Challenger Boxing Club

Nampa PAL Football encourages teamwork, and Nampa PAL Cheer offers an exciting program for girls to cheer for their teams.

The Nampa PAL Girls Running Club gathers two days out of each week to train girls for a 5K run at the end of the summer.

The Challenger Boxing Club stresses respect and motivation through the sport of competitive boxing.

Idaho residents and visitors alike will find similar programs for their kids in Meridian.
