Hunting in Idaho

Posted by Kevin Hughes on Friday, May 13th, 2011 at 9:49am.

Idaho DeerWith the most square miles of wilderness in the lower 48 states, Idaho offers the best in big game hunting and experienced outfitters to guide you and provide for your every necessity.  Come to Idaho for the most exciting hunting adventure you can imagine, just one more reason Idaho Real Estate is the thing for you!

There are countless areas set aside for hunting in Idaho.  A few are as follows:

Bar H Bar Ranch is a 9000-acre working vacation ranch offering hunting & snowmobile packages in southeastern Idaho.  It is ten miles south of Soda Springs and is an incredible place to hunt and view all the wildlife you can see in Idaho.

Cavendish Sporting Clays – If you need some target practice, Cavendish Sporting Clays is the place to go! This sporting clay range offers clay targets of varying sizes and shapes. Ten different shooting stations and a choice of either 100 or 50 target rounds are available, as well as shotgun rental and ammunition.

Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge - This refuge encompasses over 11,000 acres with both lake and river sectors. The Lake Lowell Unit is a great birding spot with over 200 recorded species. Spectacular concentrations of birds can be seen on the lake during peak migration periods. Shorebirds occur in large numbers in August when low water levels expose mudflats. Waterfowl occur in large numbers in fall and winter. The Snake River Islands Unit contains about 1200 acres on 101 islands from the Canyon-Ada County line in Idaho to Farewell Bend in Oregon.

Diamond T Guest Ranch - Guest ranch on 134 acres with all activities in the Clark Fork area. Enjoy fishing, hunting, horseback riding (close by), ATV trails, fire ring, huckleberry picking, yard games, cycling, playground, games, wildlife photography, hiking and more. Nordic skiing, snowmobiling trails, and ice fishing are available in winter.

Bald Mountain

For a more traditional approach, lots of areas near Boise are okayed for hunting as well. Some of my dad and grandpa’s favorite spots to hunt during deer and elk season are just an hour or so away and many types of animals can be hunted close to the Boise river. Hunting season is a thrilling and adventurous time in my family, because Idaho provides such great (and close-by) opportunities to hunt and hike through the mountains with the whole family!

Additionally, if you’re interested, there are many organized, outfitted hunting trips and packages available for Northern, North Central, Eastern, Central, Southeastern, and South Central Idaho.  Check out what’s available for you and your hunting buddies and start planning the hunting trip of a lifetime. Don't forget to check local laws and regulations to insure you're in the right areas and right seasons before you start hunting. Find your ideal home near the best hunting property Idaho has to offer in today's new listings for Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Nampa, Caldwell, Kuna, and more.
