With its many attractions, beautiful landscape, incredible scenery, warm, welcoming atmosphere, and gorgeous weather, citizens of the US have discovered how incredible Idaho is and its population has been growing. When you are thinking about where to make your next home and looking at Idaho real estate, keep in mind that you’re truly looking at an overlooked diamond in the rough in the state of Idaho.
U.S. Census data for Idaho recently came out, showing that Idaho's population has grown 21.1 percent in the past 10 years to 1,587,582. The state's Hispanic population grew by 73 percent, while its non-Hispanic population grew by 16.7 percent. Still, though, 89.1 percent of Idahoans are white. The state's five most-populated counties are: Ada, 392,365, up 40.4 percent; Canyon, 188,923, up 43.7 percent; Kootenai, 183,494, up 27.4 percent; Bonneville, 104,234, up 26.3 percent; and Bannock, 82,839, up 9.6 percent.
Boise, the capital city, is the state’s largest city at 205,671. It is followed by Nampa at 81,557; Meridian, 75,092; Idaho Falls, 56,813; and Pocatello, 54,255. The migration from rural to urban Idaho increased between 2000 and 2010, and eighty percent of the state’s population growth over the decade occurred in the 11 metropolitan counties, according to new 2010 census figures released by the U.S. Census Bureau.
I love the balance of population in Idaho. Boise is a big enough city with all the amenities, malls, theatres, and experiences I need, but small enough that I can feel safe, comfortable, and at home in my Boise neighborhood. In addition it's not far to get outside of the city limits and enjoy the fresh, beautiful outdoors, which are never too crowded!! It's the perfect place to raise a family and enjoy all the best of America's country!
All of that said, if you make your new home in Idaho, you’ll be in good company. Population is rising and more and more people are discovering what a wonderful state Idaho is to live in and be a part of as it grows and thrives. Purchase Idaho real estate, make your new home in Idaho, and discover a whole new world of community and vitality in whichever city you choose.
