How big is big enough for your new Boise home?

Posted by Kevin Hughes on Wednesday, May 4th, 2011 at 10:33am.

Boise ElevationWith a population of 193,414, Boise is a dynamic, vivacious capital city that you’ll be pleased and delighted to make your new home.  As you begin your research into Boise real estate and look seriously at Boise homes for sale, one of the first questions you’ll need to ask is:  what size home will best fit you and your family?

As you take this important next step in your life, consider all possibilities. The Boise area includes many smaller cities including Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Nampa, and more. Which will you choose? How many floors do you need? How much privacy do you want?  What kind of neighborhood do you prefer?  Most of all, how big is big enough?

Some more questions will help answer how big your house should be—Will your children want separate bedrooms?  Will you need an extra bedroom for visiting family or friends?  How many bathrooms will suit your family’s needs and keep everyone living in harmony throughout the house?  Details such as these can have a huge impact on how a family lives together, gets along, and interacts with each other on a day to day basis.  Nothing’s worse than the whole family feeling like they’re on top of everyone.  However having a big home can also cause things to get a little chaotic. Since a big house has a lot more work that needs to get done, it’s important for everyone to be ready to pitch in with all of the household chores.  If you’re looking at Boise real estate that’s larger than where you are now, make sure you discuss with the whole family how routines may change once you’re in your new home.

But, when it comes right down to it, how do you really decide how big your home should be?

Boise HomeThere’s no straightforward answer—it depends—it depends on you and your family’s needs, whatever the future may hold for your family.  If this is your first home, or you and your spouse are just starting out, your first instinct may be to consider a smaller property – but is that the wisest option?  What if you decide to expand your family?  If you already have a big family, won’t your parents or other family members want to visit to spend time with you in your new Boise home?  Do you have any relatives or friends who may need a place to stay?  Are you involved in charities or school groups that may request that you house students during various trips?  Most of all, what will best serve your family’s needs as well as your budget and your responsibilities? That way you'll still have time for all your favorite activities in the Boise area.

It’s important to consider all aspects of the future when making such a monumental decision as the location and size of your home.  Choose carefully, but remember you’ve already made one great decision by choosing Boise.
