Growing Pains? Top 5 signs that your Family needs a bigger home!

Posted by Kevin Hughes on Tuesday, May 17th, 2011 at 5:04pm.

Eagle, Idaho HomeMany people looking into Boise real estate, Meridian properties, Eagle homes, and Nampa houses, are also looking for a bigger space. There are a lot of good reasons to expand space and stretch out into a larger house, not just because a family “wants” a bigger space, but actually “needs” a bigger space. How does a family know when it's time to consider a larger domicile?

Here are the top five top signs that signal time to move into a bigger home:

#5 - Entertainment and Guests

Many families like to celebrate events and even just have get-togethers in the comfort of one's home. If the space is too small, those get-togethers can become rather uncomfortable in a hurry. If a family discovers that they enjoy having big backyard barbecues, or just want to be able to house family and friends when they visit, then it's time to start considering accommodations that fit the family's needs.

#4 – Arguments over space – cramped quarters

Brother and sister fighting over TV time or video games? Having to share rooms when company comes, or sleep on the couch? Having to share rooms with a sibling, particularly the tween siblings, can cause a lot of tension in a smaller home. Upgrading to a larger home, with bedrooms to accommodate each child, and an additional den or office to the living room can help harmonize these situations. When there is room for everyone, there is room to relax.

#3 – Adoption, Birth, or Blending A Family

When there is a new addition to your Boise home, whether it be through adoption, birth, or remarriage, the smaller home may no longer be enough for all the additional people. Also, if an aging parent is moving in, the house may need more than just remodeling or enlarging spaces. Finding a larger home for these types of situations is imperative.

#2 – Running out of Storage space

Sometimes self-storage is a practical alternative for families in need of storage space. Many times, however, families prefer to keep their items close at hand for easy access. When there seems to be more “stuff” than room in the house, it's important to consider a larger home; one with more garage, closet, basement, and/or attic space when things come crashing (figuratively) down around the home.

Boise, Idaho Home#1 – Watch out for The Money Pit

There comes a time when remodeling and renovating is just not enough. Sometimes homes become a never-ending nightmare of pouring money into making things bigger to accommodate the needs of a growing family. If a family is spending more money on renovations than on a down-payment for a home, it's time to upgrade to a larger house.
