Dirt Biking in Idaho

If you've chosen the varied terrain that surrounds Boise, Idaho as your home and you've made a financial commitment and invested in Idaho real estate, chances are you like to live on the edge. You're a risk taker. And dirt bikes are a great way to feel that adrenalin-rush, while surrounded by gorgeous scenery.
Riding a dirt bike along rocky trails, maneuvering your bike across creeks and up hills...it's a way of enjoying the outdoors that is second to none. The mountains. The colorful trees and bushes. The vast sky yawning over you. But before you head out to a trail, take the time to check out to make sure the trail is the right one for you.
If you're looking for a trail that's in the vicinity of Boise, Idaho, you have a couple of primo choices. Take a look at both of them. Perhaps this weekend, you'll take one on...
Hunter Creek
This trail is less than 100 miles away from city center and well worth the drive to get there. Part of it is picturesque single track---bush and tree lined on one side, and a hill on the other. Most of it is smooth sailing (jeep trail), but it's not without its challenges. Some of the features of this dirt bike trail are:
- an abundance of rock
- a great deal of side hills but not any climbs
- 26.7 miles long
- a creek crossing that is a challenge to maneuver (there's a log smack-dab in the middle of it)
- plenty of forks to test your navigational skills
The varied colors of the trees and bushes and hills--every hue from yellowish-green to purple--make this a breath-taking ride. It's recommended you not try Hunter Creek, unless you're an intermediate-advanced rider, since part of it is difficult to maneuver, but for the majority of the trail, a beginner could easily handle it.
Rabbit Creek
Even closer to Boise, Idaho is the Rabbit Creek trail. Only forty miles away you'll find this more of a desert ride, but with its own inherent beauty. Some of the things to look forward to on this ride:
- lots of loose sand (at the beginning)
- lots of bothersome rock (also at the beginning)
- a great majority of it is canyon riding (Reynolds Canyon)
- 36 miles long
- striking formations of rock overlooking the trail
If you're an advanced-beginner, you'll love this trail. And as close as it is, you can load up your bikes, leave your home in Boise and be there in less than an hour!
If you're not fortunate enough to live in Boise, Idaho...if you're a visitor to the area, here just to sample the dirt bike trails that Idaho has to offer, don't worry. There are plenty of Boise homes for sale; no matter what your price range is, there's a house that's perfect for you. (And once Idaho becomes your home, you'll never want to leave, because it's dirt bike heaven!)
