Boise Foothills TrailsFor anyone planning a move to the Boise area, you should know the Boise Foothill’s Learning Center. This will probably become a favorite destination for you and your family. The focus at the Center is to make learning fun! It is a place to enjoy hands-on learning by direct experience with the Boise outdoors.

The primary foundation of the Foothill's Learning Center is the school-age educational program, offered for children kindergarten through sixth grade

There are also special community events and family programs scheduled throughout the year. All of these are designed to give you an understanding of the environment surrounding your new home in Boise.

Here are some things you will find at the Foothills Learning Center...
There are thousands of acres of public-use land. With more than 100 miles containing an extensive trial system; used often by bird watchers,hikers, bikers, walkers and runners of all abilities.

The foothills are a home to a variety of plants, geology and wildlife. The area around the Center features water-thrifty and/or native plants. Also demonstrated is the use of plants to decrease wildland fires and the destruction of homes.

The area is filled with historic features and landmarks to discover. Making great places for fun and educational interprative trails.

An outside amphitheater is available for all sorts of events and activities.

Events of all types held all year. 

Programs for all ages are offered which include classroom lessons or field studies.

  2. The surrounding high-desert climate.
  3. Interpretative and hands-on education.
  4. The management challenges in land stewardship of the Boise area.
  5. The geology and soils and the challenges they present for gardening and landscaping.
  6. Living with wildland fire hazards.
  7. The ecology of native plants.
  8. The habitat of wildlife and how their environment is vital to their survival.
  9. Responsible use of land.
  10. The Boise area’s endangered and/or threatened species.
  11. How prehistoric man lived in the Boise area.
  12. The building offers conference rooms, office space and classrooms.
  13. The Center utilized energy efficient features and displays efficiency and sustainability in its design.
Beautiful Colors

The walls of the Center’s lobby feature an incredible panoramic view of the Boise Foothills. This exquisite mural was painted by Ward Hooper, a local artist. Other artwork within the Center includes various sculptures, including a large kinetic sculpture depicting a dandelion.

Operated by the Parks and Recreation Department within the City of Boise government. 

Located just minutes from Idaho Homes,the Boise Foothill’s Learning Center is an incredible place to visit and learn more about the environment surrounding your new home.
