Boise is one of the most happening places in the state of Idaho... With so many different cultures and interests, Boise has many types of entertainment for every personality. The summer season is full of blazing hot fun for both Boise residents and visitors who are new to the area.Below are the top five events in Boise that all will enjoy:
#1 – Boise Music Festival – Ann Morrison Park, Boise The Boise Music Festival is a free event that lasts all day, and is one of the most family-friendly events in the city. The performers include national and local artists. The music festival has much more than music—although music is the central attraction. Other features include a barbecue cook-off, a beer and wine garden for the grown-ups, a food court, many vendors of arts and crafts, and a play area just for the kids. The festival also offers a lottery with prizes such as cars, backstage passes, and more.
#2 – Western Idaho Fair – Glenwood, Boise The whole family can enjoy a trip over to the annual Western Idaho Fair. Every year, the fair offers a Family Day, with no smoking or alcohol allowed on the fairgrounds. Children under five are admitted for free. Carnival wristbands allow unlimited rides for the day, and on Family Promo Day, are only $25 each. Entertainment includes contests, exhibits, ground acts, concerts, carnival rides and games, and, of course, standard and unique concession fare.
#3 – The Idaho Shakespeare Festival – Warm Springs Avenue, Boise
June through August, the Idaho Shakespeare Festival has entertainment for the whole family. Colorful costumes and great actors make this festival a treat for young and old alike. Picnicking is encouraged, and the amphitheater is wheelchair accessible; for the hard-of-hearing, both the amphitheater and reserve are equipped with an “assistive listening system.” The walk to the area is a treat in and of itself, as people get to observe some of the beautiful wildlife, such as heron, deer, ducks, geese, and fox.

The festival offers many different events for all ages and tastes, such as the Black-Tie Gala, Senior Tea, and Breakfast with Santa. A family pass (for up to 6), is $30. Seniors admitted for $4, except on Senior Day, where anyone over age 62 is admitted for only $2.

#5 – Ye Olde Renaissance Faire – Eagle Island State Park, Eagle
Just a 15 minute drive from most Boise homes, the annual Ye Olde Renaissance Faire offers much to do for the whole family—including Medieval Entertainment such as jousts, dancing, and sword fights. If the kids (and adults) want to learn, there are activities such as Renaissance games, jugglers, jesters, story telling, May Pole Dancing, Archery, hair braiding, face painting, Children's Puppet Theatre & Puppet Making, and even more.
