Boise Activities for Teens- What will our teens do after we move there?

Posted by Kevin Hughes on Wednesday, May 11th, 2011 at 9:16am.

Boise SoccerAs you are preparing to move your family to Boise, you’ll have a lot to think about, especially as your family adjusts to their new neighborhood, environment, and school(s).  If you have teenagers, the adjustment can be especially tough, as they’ll be leaving their schools and circle of friends to move to Boise, and the transition, as you have most likely considered, may be rocky.

The good news is that Boise boasts many and various activities, both at school and outside of school around the city, for your teenagers to participate in. The adjustment may not always be pleasant, but Boise is a warm, welcoming, beautiful city, and the population will do everything possible to help the whole family feel welcome in your new Boise home.

In school, your teens will be given a top-notch education and the opportunity to participate in school activities and extracurricular activities like musical groups, volunteering, sports, plays and dramatic arts, and many others.  Outside of school, Boise has a ton of attractions throughout the city for your teens to explore with their new friends.  Whether it’s hanging at the mall, exploring the Idaho Botanical Gardens, running around in parks like Julia Davis playing ultimate Frisbee, soccer, or football, checking out the Boise Zoo and Aquariums, or floating the Boise river. They’re sure to love the Super Kart Indoor Racing, which is a great place to blow off some steam and have some fun anytime during the year. During the winter, there’s always Bogus Basin, the local ski resort just about 45 minutes from the northwest side of Boise, with some great slopes during the winter.

Just a little while ago I was chatting with a friend who moved to Boise from Southern California his Junior year of high school. I asked him about the move and how he liked it. At first he said he hated it—hated the idea of moving to a little podunk town of Boise, ID, but that was before he got here. Once he’d spent a little time here he was hooked. He said he knew it was the best move his parents could have made for him and his brother and sisters. He loves it now, and now when he’s finished school he plans to make a home here for him and his family. Boise has plenty to do and plenty to see, just tell your teens to wait and see what it has to offer! You can also check out our Boise area information page for more fun things to do and see in the area.
