2 Car Garage or 3 Car Garage? “Must-Have” Choices for your Idaho Home

Posted by Kevin Hughes on Wednesday, May 4th, 2011 at 10:55am.

Boise HomeWhen you make the decision to purchase Idaho real estate and find a house in Boise, Meridian, Eagle, or Nampa, you’ll have lots of decisions to make, lots of options to go through, and plenty of research to do before you decide on which home is right for you and your family. As you’re thinking about all the choices you’ll need to make, like the floor plan, the windows, the ceiling fans, and the drapes, don’t forget that the outside of the house is just as important as the inside!  You’ve got the yard, the garden, the shrubbery outside, and, last but not least, the extension of the house, the haven of masculinity, and the protection you’ll need for your mini-van or mini-cooper – the garage.

Now, the biggest question you’ll probably have when it comes to the garage is whether you will need a two or three car garage to suit your family’s needs.  As with all other decisions about your new Idaho haven from the storm, including size, shape, and proportion, the size of the garage you’ll need shouldn’t be simply decided by the number of cars you have or if you don’t mind leaving one outside.

Think about your family’s needs now and in the future.  Do you have children who will have bikes, tricycles, and other playthings they’ll need to store in the garage?  More than that, will your children be driving soon?  Will you have enough storage space in your house for all of your things, or will the garage need to become a spillover space for necessities like lawn and garden care equipment, cleaning supplies, and other items you don’t want to store in the house itself?  Consider all future possibilities, because your garage will probably become a very important part of your house as it becomes your permanent home in Idaho.  What will your family portrait look like in three years—or five-ten?

Kuna HomeAbove all, remember to set expectations and rules with your family based on whatever size garage you decide on, and what you want to do with the space you’re getting.  It’s important to keep everything set up in an organized, easy-to-access way, so that you can take advantage of the space you have and not regret your first decision.  Whatever your needs, there will be a house in Idaho – whether in Boise or the surrounding areas – which will be a perfect fit for you and your family.
