Things to Do & See In Adams County
Skiing in Winter, rafting in Summer: Brundage Mountain offers skiing, mountain biking, and whitewater adventures. Brundage Mountain has a snowfall of over 300 inches per year, and offers many things to do and see throughout the year, including music festivals and summer lift rides.
Hiking and nature treks: In Wallowa-Whitman National Forest and bordering the west of Adams County, Hells Canyon is considered one of the most breath-taking journeys with gorgeous views. The Snake River winds its way through Hells Canyon, and is the deepest river-carved gorge in the US and Canada. Snake River also has a unique allowance for powerboats, as Congress included specific language for their use in the area. Payette National Forest offers hiking, fishing, camping, hunting, skiing, and snowmobiling.
Museums and History: The Council Valley Museum on Galena Street offers a diverse history of the area. Nearby McCall offers several museums just a small journey away from New Meadows. Historic landmarks in Adams County include the Adams County Courthouse and the Council Ranger Station in Council, the Colonel E.M. Heigho House, Meadows Schoolhouse, and Pacific and Idaho Northern Railroad Depot in New Meadows, and the Hells Canyon Archeological District and A.O. Huntley Barn in Cuprum.
Golfing: Meadow Creek Golf Course in New Meadows has 18 holes and 6,696 yards of golf from its longest tees, for a par of 72. The slope rating is 131 on Blue Grass, and the course rating is 72.
